One reason I began collecting Fellini memorabilia (Felliniana) was the allure of the beautiful posters. Early on, my main goal was to collect all of the U.S. Fellini posters known as 1-sheets. They measure 27” x 41” (27” x 40” after 1990) and were designed to fit standard outdoor frames at movie theaters. Most U.S. posters and promo materials were produced by studio ad agencies and were rather bland compared to European and Japanese posters. (They often had alternate titles for US audiences, as well.) Designs tended towards photo collages of film scenes and in some cases, there were two or more poster designs released. Due to very limited U.S. release of most Fellini films, tracking down 1-sheets proved more difficult than acquiring foreign posters. Nevertheless, I persisted and finally have 1-sheets for nearly all 24 films. The three exceptions are, Voice of the Moon (Voce della Luna) which was never released in the US, Fellini: A Director’s Notebook, which was an NBC-TV movie and The White Sheik (Lo Sceicco Bianco) which had a slightly smaller version of a 1-sheet distributed. This poster gallery is sorted in alpha order.
